As séries American Horror Story (17 indicações) e Game Of Thrones (16) lideram a disputa da edição 2013, cujo prêmio será entregue no dia 22 de setembro no Nokia Theatre, em Los Angeles.
O polêmico telefilme Behind the Candelabra, que aborda o relacionamento homossexual do pianista Liberace (Michael Douglas) com seu assessor Scott Thorson (Matt Damon), conquistou 15 indicações, assim como o humorístico Saturday Night Live. Eles são seguidos pelo drama Breaking Bad e pela comédia 30 Rock, com 13 cada.
House Of Cards, do Netflix, surpreendeu com 9 indicações, incluindo as categorias de Melhor Série Dramática e Melhor Ator, para Kevin Spacey (Quero Matar Meu Chefe). A série tornou-se a primeira distribuída digitalmente a receber indicações importantes para o prêmio.
